Smiling all the Way From A to Z -- D

And we are on our way into the Blogging From A-Z April Challenge. Letter D, here we go. The thing that starts with the letter D that makes me smile is:
DRIVING

I love the speed as I shift from gear to gear, zooming down the highway. Driving through huge puddles makes me giggle wildly, a massive grin from ear to ear painted across my face.

Driving offers me valuable time to listen to audio books. I do love me an audio book. They make me laugh, smile, and sometimes even cry. Sigh

My Toyota Corolla, red and sporty with a sunroof, is my baby; her name is Razlyn. Come September I will own her completely. Yay for soon not having to pay a car bill. That makes driving all the better. And oh, how I will smile once I get the title for my car! I may even frame it. :)

Miss Raz takes me places: work, home, to family and friends places, to church, to the store, and speeding down the road. Yes, I have a led foot; although, I never go more than 10 miles over the speed limit. Gotta be on the cautious side.

I don't quite fancy traffic, especially with having to shift gears so much in stop and go situations, but otherwise I love driving. :)

Do you enjoy driving? Starting with the letter D, what makes you smile?

PS: Refer to the blurb on the very top of my blogs sidebar to know why I am posting about what makes me smile. Go forward and smile!

  1. My sibs call me "Miss Drive" and most times, I don't mind. However, when I drive a manual, preferably a 5 speed, that's when it really is fun to drive. Then, I like the name "Miss Drive."

  2. I love driving, too! My family (husband included) thinks I'm bonkers. But that's good, because they always let me drive whenever we go places together :)

I love long road trips, too. I can drive straight through the night and all day and not get sick of it.

    1. We should go on a road trip! That'd be fun, for sure.

  3. I really wish I could drive. I'm 22 and Been putting it off for years due to a crash. I really want to get back into it now as I live more than 20 miles from the nearest city. Perhaps soon I will get my bum in gear and learn.

    1. I understand being a bit skittish about driving due to car accidents. I've been through a couple too. Not fun at all. Sorry you had to have an accident. :/

  4. I am a complete car and driving fanatic. I even write about cars the majority of most weeks, which is like a dream come true. Have you checked out the Mustang Experience at the Miller Motorsports Park? It's well worth the price and will give you some great driving tips no matter what kind of car you drive later. I have to say it is admirable you have a stick shift since so many people these days can't even handle a manual.

    1. I had an idea that you'd chirp in on this post due to the sporty car on your blog. Glad ya did, Steven. I learned on a manual. I love having control of the car. It's fun.

I will have to check out the Miller Motorsports Park? Thanks for the recommendation. :)

  5. I enjoy my sports car, but there are so few places here where the roads aren't crowded. I feel like I'm abusing the poor thing when it does the speed limit or less.

  6. Tried thinking something else but driving does make me smile. There something therapeutic about going down a highway and the feeling of control. Longer the drive the better. Cheers

  7. ^Lol Alex!

I actually don't like to drive. I'm pretty fearful of cars, stemming from a car accident I was in when I was 16.

I am a good driver though, and I do appreciate a scenic drive (there's a TON of mountain around my school).

    1. That is great to be around nature. Driving through the canyons near where I live is incredible. :) Sorry to hear about your accident. That stinks!

  8. I have a lead foot, but a guilty conscience so I only go the speed limit. It would be nice sometime to find somewhere I could really just go.

    1. I once drove around 90 mph on a deserted road with a guy I knew. I'm sure glad no cops were around. It felt dangerously good! :)

    1. Yeah, long distances is tiring, especially if you've been driving for a week straight.

  10. Hate driving Julia and I'd definitely be in an automatic car if I was driving. Maybe because I used to drive during working hours to see clients and I really became tired of L.A. freeways. They are famous for making people lose their interest in driving.:)

    1. Man, I was in LA a couple years ago at midnight and there was traffic. Traffic at midnight, you've got to be kidding me. If there is traffic in the middle of the night, there is definitely something wrong. No wonder you dislike driving.

  11. I used to enjoy driving until I started doing it more often for work. Now I hate it! Unless it's a fun road trip.

    1. Get yourself a good audio book. That will keep your mind off driving, give you something to enjoy. :)

  12. I think I'd enjoy driving a nice car. But my car is dumpy so I don't enjoy it much.

  13. Don't enjoy traffic jams or very short journeys but I like longer trips, that's the only time I get to listen to my CDs and I can think! (Well, unless there are kids screaming in the back, lol.)

  14. I haven't got my drivers license (yet) but I do love hitting the road. The great thing about Australia is the opportunity to drive for ages without stopping. Some of the greatest holidays have been packing ourselves in the car and seeing where the road takes us.

    1. That sounds so fun. I plan on going to Australia at the end of the summer. Perhaps I should rent a car and do some driving of my own. :)

  15. I like driving too - my Toyota Yaris, is red and I named her Ziva, after Ziva David from NCIS. It's so nice to be able to take her out and go where I want to go. Sadly, I still have another 3 1/2 years before I fully own her.
