Halloween Post... Um... A little Late

Hi friends!

 

I mentioned a couple posts ago I had a supercool Halloween costume in the works. Well, I wish you a belated Halloween from...

 

The Tardis

 

Yup, this shows just how dorky I am, but I will declare my love for Doctor Who any day!

 

If you do not know what the Tardis is, I will explain.

 

It is Doctor Who's time traveling police box that can take him anywhere in time or space. Pretty nifty, eh?

 

And it is bigger on the inside than on the outside.

 

Tardis stands for "Time and Relative Dimension in Space."

 

And is quite possibly the coolest space machine. Like. Ever.

 

I hope you enjoy my rendition of the amazing box.

 

As Doctor Who #11 (Matt Smith--swoon) would say: "You sexy thing!" And man, I exude sexiness all the way. Tehehe

 

What did you go as for Halloween? Do anything fun?

 

I sure did... I wore my costume to work, went Trick or Treating with my niece and nephews, and made an appearance at a party. Then I went home and slept like the dead. Dun Dun Dun.

Costume Preparation and Stress Level Down

There's a particular thing I want to be for Halloween, but I wasn't exactly sure how to go about being this "thing". As you can tell I'm not going to peep a word as to what it is. All I'm gonna say is it's cool, supercool you might say. ;)

 

I Googled about it and found some easy ways to make it and then bam, I knew I had to be it. Yes, it.

 

Ross: Dress for Less has become my best friend because the shop had a dress that will work perfectly for the said costume. Yes, there will be a few alterations that will need to be made but, by golly, it's on it's way. I'm so excited.

 

I sort of wish I could wear it to work on Halloween. Now that would be a blast; however, I'm pretty sure costume wearing is a no, no at my job. Drat! It would be so cool too.

 

But do not fear, friends. I will most definitely post photos of it later on this month.

 

I love it when things like this get me excited. Woot!

 

And what I love more is my work has calmed down a wee bit over the past few days. I'm loving it beyond words. Since I shared that particular aspect of my life, I hope that I haven't jinxed myself. Now that would be terrible. I could use a break from work related stress, that's for sure.

 

How is your Halloween costume preparations going? Will you share what you are going to be, even though I'm being secretive? How's your work-related stress level? I sure hope yours is low like mine right now.

Month of November Goals

Happy November, dear friends! I hope your Halloween was spooktacular! Well, I'll just jump right into my goals.

Here is how my month of October goals panned out:

• Recuperate from spraining my ankle Uh... It turns out that I fractured a bone in my foot. I had to wear a hideous boot for a freaking month. Luckily I'm out of the montrousity of ugliness. But I've got to rehabilitate my poor foot now. Silliness, I say
• Read BEYONDERS: SEEDS OF REBELLION by Brandon Mull Check. Great book
• Finish listening to DIE FOR ME by Amy Plum Super Check. I loved this book sooooo much. Read it. Now
• If I have time, I'll edit some or all of one of my writing projects Nope, I did open up one of my projects and read the first chapter to my new roomie. She LOVED it! Just you guys wait...
• Start my new job, love it, and learn it fast Check on all accounts
• Find a new place to live in Salt Lake City before I'm driven mad by the long commute Check and it didn't happen soon enough. I truly was going crazy driving two hours a day.
• Enjoy my half birthday... Check. I loveth growing old. haha

Well, I'm feeling good about my goals and hope to have success in the coming month. Here are my month of November goals:

• Finish listening to the audio book CHIME by Franny Billingsley
• Listen to the audio book SHIVER by Maggie Stiefvater (I just got a library card and by golly I'm gonna use it--bring on the audio books. Yes!)
• Read FINALE by Becca Fitzpatrick
• NaNoWriMo--50K and/or finish writing my dystopian book called SPHERICAL
• Do something social at least once a week
• Have a super fantastic Thanksgiving Holiday *gobble gobble*
• Be better at reading and commenting on other blogs. So sorry for being anti-blogospher-social

Bat Girl - A Little Late

Yes, the turkey has been shot and I'm posting pics of me in my

Halloween costume. I promised I would post pics of me as

Bat Girl so here they are my friends. Scary, huh?

Better late than never. Got to keep my promise.

I feel silly posting pics of myself, but I really enjoyed dressing up
for Halloween. It was fun. Wonder what I will be next year?

Dark Angel Bat Girl

I hosted a Halloween party at work today. I decided that a prize would be given to the person with the best costume. I bought the prize--a "really cool prize". The soap bottle glows in the dark. Guess who won? Me!!! Funny, I bought the prize and I won! I have to admit that I really wanted to win it. Thanks all those co-workers who voted for me. Well, the costume that won it for me is a bat--quite possible the coolest bat ever! I don't have a complete pic of me as "bat girl" yet, but that will be on a future post. A guy I work with thought I was a dark angel. I gave him a hard time for that, but now I sort of like it. Maybe I can be "dark angel bat girl". Does anyone remember the show "Dark Angel". I loved that show. Well, the second season was sort of weird. Really can't believe that the guy in NCIS was in that show. Anyway, I posted a face shot of my dark angel bat girl costume with this post. That's not my real hair, its a wig! Enjoy!

Thriller

Last night I saw Thriller performed by Odyssey Dance Theatre in Salt Lake City, Utah. For those who do not know what this is, I will tell you. Basically, the dance group performs multiple dance routines based around different scary Halloween themes. Of course, Michael Jackson's Thriller is the opening and closing dance of the production. Yep, they do the whole Thriller dance and that's exciting in it’s self, but the other dances are just as great. I was impressed.
Before and after the performance, Zombies and other demonic and scary creatures crept through the auditorium terrifying the guests. My friend and I had a system to watch out for the zombified women who did all they could to scare the guests. While we chatted, I watched one side of the auditorium and she watched the other. We were never approached. Phew! The zombies crawled on seats and sneaked up on people to get their desired reaction, screams. One girl was so scared of them that the zombies kept on taunting her to get her to scream some more.
As for the dances, my favorite had to be Frankenstein and his Bride. Frankenstein’s bride flawlessly played the part of a limp, dead person after Frankenstein inadvertently broke her neck. She is dragged around the stage and flung around like a rag doll due to Frankenstein’s failed efforts to bring her back to life. My second favorite dance was Dem Bones. The dancers wore glow-in-the-dark bone costumes. All you could see were the glowing bones while they tapped away a scary, yet comical dance.
For many years I have wanted to see this dance production, and now that I finally have, I think that it is going to become an annual event. You should go see it sometime if you are in SLC during Halloween! BTW, my camera wasn't cooperating, so the pictures didn't turn out too great.

The Holiday Season

Autumn has somewhat of a bittersweet feel to it for me. I will miss the warmth of the previous season. However, I love autumn changing the color of the leaves and the crisp feel in the air. I love breaking out my fall and winter clothing; however, I do not like the decrease in the temperature. I tend to run cold, thus the cold weather doesn’t agree well with me. My teeth chatter. My knees shake. And I never can get just warm enough. Although, I enjoy sipping hot chocolate and wearing warm clothing, especially scarves. But the best part about the weather changing and autumn charging its way in is the holiday season draws near.
I constitute the holiday season as four holidays, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. There really isn’t another time of the year that grants us so many entertaining holidays within a three-month period of time. I adore these holidays because they get people together for fun parties and gatherings. Friends join together to watch scary movies and trek through haunted corn mazes. Families gather together to eat delicious meals and enjoy each other’s company. Tricks are treated. Blessings are realized. Songs are sung. Trees are decorated. Service is offered. Gifts are given. A new year offers a regeneration of spirit. And love is shared.
With that said, what are your favorite parts of the holidays? Do you have a favorite holiday during this time of the year? You may even share a story that you can remember about a previous holiday season memory.

PS: I can't say which holiday season holiday is my favorite, but it would be a toss up between Thanksgiving and Christmas!
