What is the first book you remember reading? Or which one stuck out to you the most and you still think about it? Well, not all the time but every now and then you stop and think: I really liked that book.
That book for me is actually two-fold; they are two books in a series of which I unfortunately haven't read in its entirety. Maybe I should sometime soon...
The books are:
"The Plant that Ate the Dirty Socks"
&
"The Return of the Plant that Ate the Dirty Socks" by Nancy McArthur.
Yes, very juvenile but incredibly funny.
To be honest, I have no idea when I read them but it had to have been during my elementary years. Perhaps, I purchased them from the "Bookmobile" that came to my school. A totally rockin' way to buy books and to get kids reading. This admition ages me. A lot. I know. If I age myself then I will make you do likewise --> Do you remember the "Bookmobile?"
Is the "Bookmobile" still on the road going from school to school selling books of new worlds of wonder to kids? That'd be super cool.
Anyway, I enjoyed these books immensely. And I think you would, too. They are quick reads and I know you will laugh your pants off within pages. There was one scene that literally made me LOL so hard I was crying, tears spilling from my eyes.

I don't remember the first book I read, but The Mouse and the Motorcycle was a favorite.
ReplyDeleteAnd I do remember the Bookmobile.
We must be old, eh? Bookmobile. hehe But old in style!
DeleteHmm, I don't remember. I think...Emily Umily. Probably because my name was in it!
ReplyDeleteCute. Yeah, anything with your own name in it tends to have an endearing quality. :)
DeleteThe first one I truly remember being attached to was a cinderella picture book that was in my second grades teacher's classroom library.
ReplyDeleteCool! For some reason, I can't remember picture books. What in the world is wrong with me? haha
DeleteThe first actual work of literature that I recall owning and reading was Dumas' The Three Musketeers. I was in second grade at the time. I'm not sure if it was some sort of special edition made for kids, but it seemed substantial for me at the time and I really enjoyed it. Not sure whatever happened to that book.

Hi Arlee! I was about to say you were a prodigy child for reading The Three Musketeers in second grade. :) I'm glad you enjoyed it. Nice to meet you. I can't wait for the A to Z Challenge.
DeleteTales of a Fourth Grade Nothing sticks out in my memory. I laughed so much over that book. I loved it.
ReplyDeleteThe name of the book is enough to make me want to read it. And laughing is a plus too. Thanks for sharing, Kelly!
DeleteAH! The bookmobile!!! I miss that thing! It was awesome. I would go ALL-THE-TIME! I remember reading Amelia Bedilia books and loving them and also Stone Soup, Trumpet of the Swan, Where the Red Fern Grows and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Those were all huge "loves" of mine when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteYay for another Bookmobiler!
DeleteGoodness, it's hard to remember. Loved Dr. Seuss, in middle school, read Shakespeare, fell in love with classics thanks to that.
ReplyDeleteI didn't read when I was younger! I faked my way through school with cliff notes and movies. I know, awful! But I became a serious reader as an adult. So I don't have any of those early books to reminisce about! :/
ReplyDeleteI've been exploring for a little bit for any high quality articles or weblog posts on this sort of space . Exploring in Yahoo I at last stumbled upon this web site. Studying this information So i am glad to exhibit that I'vе an incredibly gοod uncanny fеeling I found οut just
