Hi, friends!
There's going to be a little change in my blogging routine. I've decided to post only once a week from now on. I've got so many things going on in my life right now that simplifying things is all I can do. This is something that I've been thinking about for a while. Now I'm implementing it. Sorry for being such a party pooper. haha I need time to do all the fickle things in life. Plus, I really need to allow for time to visit other blogs. I've been a serious flake in that area recently. My apologies. My sincerest apologies!
So, stop by on Wednesdays for posts. That's my new day for blogging fun!
It's interesting how when I started blogging I randomly posted. It could've been four times a week to maybe once every three weeks. Then, I realized I had to have some kind of order in the chaos. I started posting Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. After a while, I dropped my posting down to two days a week. Now, once a week.
But, alas, I'm still trying to be consistent. That's the thing with blogging, you need consistency so your followers know when to expect some brilliant (haha) posts from you. That's one thing I learned at a writing conference. So, dearest followers, stop by on Wednesdays for whatever I conjure up for posts.
Have you ever had to shave off a couple days from your weekly blogging routine? How have you decided how many days a week to blog? Or when you will post?
I appreciate you all! Super Mwah!
Writing. Jewels.
I post Tuesday-Thursdays. I write most of my posts in advance and many of them (especially the Two-Fer Tuesdays) are not that long. Right now I've got almost everything done through August 1 except for a review of the new Batman movie. Kind of need to wait until I see it before I can review it. I tend to agree that it's helpful if the reader knows when to expect posts, not that many readers seem to understand or even appreciate this concept. I mean at the bottom of every post I say when the next one is and what it will involve and yet readers still don't show up. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteIt's difficult to get people to stop by blogs. I'm still working on it. Keep on posting. It'll come. :D
DeleteI follow several bloggers who only post once a week and it works for them. Consistency is key. And providing good content when you do post. Glad you selected Wednesday - coincides with the IWSG posts!
ReplyDeleteI selected Wednesday for that exact purpose. Go IWSG!
Delete"Our life is frittered away by detail - simplify, simplify." (Thoreau) Sounds like good advice to me!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on the consistency. Maybe some time after the summer. I don't preschedule posts, which probably doesn't help!
I think last fall I started prescheduling my posts. It helped a lot. Yet, still I've got to simplify. Too much to do. haha I love the quote you posted here. Thanks, Nick!
DeleteI've changed my blog schedule so many times. I used to do five days a week. I used to post on weekends sometimes with different features. Then I went to four days a week and then three. Now I'm down to two. I also used to have two other blogs I posted to and tried to post to regularly. I've since abandoned those blogs. It's a very challenging thing, finding that balance and order in so much chaos.
ReplyDeleteBut the most important things are real life and our writing, especially if we're still in the agent or book deal hunt.
True that, Stephanie: the most important thing is real life and writing. If we aren't staying in the real world enough then that's bad. Getting out of our heads for a bit is a good idea. But being in our heads is important too. haha I'm so not making sense. Anyway, you've kept yourself busy bloggin-wise in the past.
DeleteWednesday is Julia King day! Got it!
ReplyDeleteSeriously! Every Wednesday SHOULD be Julia King Day! haha People can give me presents and gravel at me feet. Sounds like a super great idea to me, Michael. :D
DeleteI used to blog thrice weekly, plus ROW80 posts--which ended up being five per week. Now I do my own posts twice a week (Wednesday and Friday), and I update my ROW80 status with a little something extra on Sundays. And if we're not in a round, I often skip a Sunday. It's working for now!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes with the new schedule!
Julie, you amaze me. You always have such detailed and thought provoking posts. I bow in your glory. Keep em coming.
DeleteI post once a week on Wednesdays too! (Which means I need to get to posting today's post stat!) I used to blog 3 times a week, then two. I like my once a week schedule now because I can be consistent without taking extra time away from actually writing.
ReplyDeleteWow, we are like twiners with how our blogging has developed. I'm there with you about needing time to write and the other things that go along with life.
DeleteI try to blog roughly once a week, maybe every other week. My issue is that I am struggling to find subject matter that hasn't already been done to death, is cliche, or is tacky or something. I am not published yet, so I almost feel like I have no right to leap into the blogging world unless I have the cred. Anyone have any ideas? xD
ReplyDeleteCheryl - because you write is good enough for you to blog. And blogging get your name out there. So I say, "Blog away, chica!" I totally understand finguring out good subject matter. Ugh! That's a tough one. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI try to post weekly, but there are times when twice is in order. I know they say to stick with a particular day, but I'm not disciplined enough for that. :)
ReplyDeleteI've awarded you a few awards.
*runs to your blog* Eep!
DeleteWednesdays. Got it! :)
ReplyDeleteI've been having the same thoughts lately, but we'll see how this new routine works out.
I'm glad I'm not the only person thinking about (or) going down to blogging once a week. It's tough.
DeleteIt is hard to know how much time to devote to blogging. It's important, but so is writing your next book, and feeding your children, and paying the bills, and so on. I totally understand.
ReplyDelete:)
I'm glad you brought up the other things in life. We can only do so much. Thanks for stopping by Margo. :D
DeleteWednesday, got it!
ReplyDeleteIs it sad that I read the second line in your keyboard pic as "WTF sa" and stared at it for a few seconds before I realized what it really meant? I think it's time I backed away from the keyboard! Good luck with everything and don't forget about taking time out for yourself! :)
Bahahahaha I didn't even noticed that. Oh, the embarrassment. hehe
