Spoiler about me, and I promise this post will have something to do with writing:
I have an obsessive personality. Studies have shown... Ok, no studies have been done on me.
Maybe there should be... *runs and hides under the bed*
I get super into things like books, TV shows, food, treats, and the list continues far to long to measure. Well, it could be the size of a good street block or two, but who's really got their measuring tape out tracking the length of my obsessions, anyway?
If you are then that's just creepy-beyond-I'm-going-to-call-the-cops-on-you creep-tastic.
Well, my most recent obsession is DOCTOR WHO. This BBC show is great, brilliant, magnificent. And who can resist the English accent? Or David Tennant or Matt Smith, right? Not me!
I started watching the first season a mere three weeks ago and am now on the sixth one. *feels sheepish* Call me crazy. Well, I am a little crazy but in an I'm-creative-and-I-love-it kind of way.
Now this is the Doctor Who that aired in 2005. Not the old school ones in black and white or anything. I can blame this entire obsession on my boss, though. She occasionally talks about Doctor Who which brought upon me this possessed infatuation. I found myself bored one Sunday night, logged onto my Netflix account, typed in Doctor Who, and I've been watching the show ever since. And somehow I'm still productive... Don't ask me how. haha
I bring this up because we could learn a lot about creativity from The Doctor. Watching this show has shown me that from the quirkiest, dumbest, most fantastical, and amazing things, a story can be spun. As in the first episode, of which is way beyond stupid, it uses mannequins as the antagonists. Yes, they come alive and start attacking London. (FYI: you sort of have to get through the first season to really get into the meat of the show)
Then there are the Weeping Angels that transport people to another time if you look at them and then turn your back. *Whatever You Do, Don't Blink*
And there are little guys called the Adipose that are formed from human fat. They are super cute. I'd like to have one as a pet--twisted, huh? Well, I've got plenty of fat around my tummy to make one. haha
Anyway, keep your mind open. There are ideas all around, even ideas that The Doctor couldn't weave like you could--CAN!
Do you get obsessive over books, movies, TV shows, food, etc...??? Or are you a Doctor Who fan? If so, what's your favorite episode?
