Dark Angel Bat Girl

I hosted a Halloween party at work today. I decided that a prize would be given to the person with the best costume. I bought the prize--a "really cool prize". The soap bottle glows in the dark. Guess who won? Me!!! Funny, I bought the prize and I won! I have to admit that I really wanted to win it. Thanks all those co-workers who voted for me. Well, the costume that won it for me is a bat--quite possible the coolest bat ever! I don't have a complete pic of me as "bat girl" yet, but that will be on a future post. A guy I work with thought I was a dark angel. I gave him a hard time for that, but now I sort of like it. Maybe I can be "dark angel bat girl". Does anyone remember the show "Dark Angel". I loved that show. Well, the second season was sort of weird. Really can't believe that the guy in NCIS was in that show. Anyway, I posted a face shot of my dark angel bat girl costume with this post. That's not my real hair, its a wig! Enjoy!

Thoughts from a mad woman. . .

The last couple of week’s mornings have been ominously dark. Not only has the weather been changing, but the amount of sunlight in the morning has progressively become less and less. It practically feels like the middle of the night in the morning. I keep thinking, when are we going to change our clocks? The funny thing is I can distinctly recall having had two dreams this week where I woke up late because I didn’t change my clock. Subconsciously, I must be worried about this bi-yearly event of changing the clocks.
Right now, ladies and gentlemen, I’m going to take the first step to stop this insanity before it drives me crazy. And just in case you don’t know the answer, I will supply the answer for you. I really hope that I’m not the only person in this world who doesn’t know when we change our clocks? That will really make me crazy and feel a little sheepish too.
“Google is my friend,” I say as I type, C-H-A-N-G-E C-L-O-C-K-S 2-0-1-0, into Google Search, and then I scan for the site that will quickly supply the answer. I read, and I have the answer.
And the answer is. . .
Drum Roll
Clocks change on November 7 and will fall back an hour. That means that I will get an extra hour of sleep. Not only do I love chocolate, as you found out on my last post, but I love sleep even more. Zzzz. . .
I hope that this post helps you, and me, rest assure that time will keep going even when we gain an hour on November 7. Isn't that contradictory? Anyway, I hope that it helps all those lost-in-space-kind of people like me who don’t know when clocks should be changed to cease having nightmares that they wake up late because of not changing their clocks.
Have a pleasant-absence-of-light-in-the-morning kind of day until November 7 when the mornings will be a bit more cheery. Ciao.

Chocolates Anonymous

I am munching on Pretzel M&M’s. They're deliciousness in marble-sized form. Have I mentioned that I love chocolate? I have an undeniable sweet tooth. Alright, I can deny chocolate, but it's still tempting. I should form a group called Chocolate’s Anonymous (C.A.). C.A. would be a chocolate treats potluck group, but blindfolds would be required to protect the identity of its members. Why not enjoy the chocolaty goodness with others, even if you have no idea who they are.
You may ask, “How would you know who to invite without knowing their identity?”
“Oh, technicalities, technicalities,” I shrug.
“Well, aren’t such groups supposed to help someone quit doing a bad habit?”
“Oh, technicalities, technicalities,” I repeat and move on with my train of thought.

Anyway, here my favorite chocolate treats that I would bring to C.A.:

1. Chocolate Chip Ice Cream with Cheerios. Yes, you read correctly. When I was a little girl, my sweet tooth was biting, so I plopped a few scoops of chocolate chip ice cream into a bowl. A strange thought popped into my mind to put Cheerios in the ice cream. “It just might taste nummy,” I thought. I took notice that the ice cream was too solid to mix the Cheerios in, so I started to stir, stir, and stir it some more until it was smooth. This was before my family got a microwave. Yep, I’m that old. JK I poured some of the cereal into the chocolate chip ice cream and stirred some more. With anticipation of its taste, I spooned some of the ice cream cheerio concoction into my mouth. The moment I tasted it, I was in love.
2. Hot from the Oven Cookie and Ice Cream Sandwich. Make some chocolate chip cookies. Right when you take them out of the oven, put one in a bowl and place a scoop of ice cream on it. Put another cookie on top of that and add more ice cream. To finish it off slid another hot cookie on top of the ice cream and drizzle chocolate sauce on top. Voila! You have a delicious treat. By the time you eat it, some of the ice cream will have melted. I prefer to use cookies and cream ice cream for this one.
3. Pretzels dipped in Nutella. If you've ever tried Nutella, you'll know this is to die for.

My Pretzel M&M’s are gone now, but the sweet tooth has been appeased. I don’t feel like eating chocolate anymore—at least for today!

Thriller

Last night I saw Thriller performed by Odyssey Dance Theatre in Salt Lake City, Utah. For those who do not know what this is, I will tell you. Basically, the dance group performs multiple dance routines based around different scary Halloween themes. Of course, Michael Jackson's Thriller is the opening and closing dance of the production. Yep, they do the whole Thriller dance and that's exciting in it’s self, but the other dances are just as great. I was impressed.
Before and after the performance, Zombies and other demonic and scary creatures crept through the auditorium terrifying the guests. My friend and I had a system to watch out for the zombified women who did all they could to scare the guests. While we chatted, I watched one side of the auditorium and she watched the other. We were never approached. Phew! The zombies crawled on seats and sneaked up on people to get their desired reaction, screams. One girl was so scared of them that the zombies kept on taunting her to get her to scream some more.
As for the dances, my favorite had to be Frankenstein and his Bride. Frankenstein’s bride flawlessly played the part of a limp, dead person after Frankenstein inadvertently broke her neck. She is dragged around the stage and flung around like a rag doll due to Frankenstein’s failed efforts to bring her back to life. My second favorite dance was Dem Bones. The dancers wore glow-in-the-dark bone costumes. All you could see were the glowing bones while they tapped away a scary, yet comical dance.
For many years I have wanted to see this dance production, and now that I finally have, I think that it is going to become an annual event. You should go see it sometime if you are in SLC during Halloween! BTW, my camera wasn't cooperating, so the pictures didn't turn out too great.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Trailer 2 [HD]

The movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 is scheduled for release on November 19, 2010; however, many of us “witches” and “wizards” will stay up late to enjoy it at a midnight showing. I, for one, have watched three of the HP movies for the first time at a midnight showing, as well as multiple other movies. This time around, I will be seeing it at a pre-showing on the 18th at 5 p.m. Don’t be mad! I got lucky this time around and won’t be staying up late to see it.
But, there is something to seeing a midnight movie before it’s released. I feel more excitement for the movie then I would have otherwise because of the anticipation that builds up inside of me throughout the day of the showing. Plus, there is a social aspect to midnight movies—friends gathering together way early to wait in line is all part of the fun. The midnight movie is a great way to hype up the diehard fans, even to the point that they dress up! Way fun to see! And, I would think, there is a method to midnight movie madness—making more money on opening weekend.
So, I’ve had my ticket for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 for a little over a month now, crazy, huh? What is even crazier is that I had a ticket to see The Twilight Saga: Eclipse for about 3 months before the movie was released.

Do you have your ticket for HP yet? Why do you like midnight movies? What makes you stay up late to see a midnight movie when you otherwise could be warm in your bed asleep?

BTW, enjoy the trailer! It has made me all the more excited for the movie to come out!
